Hi, I’m Chris Stanley, a Licensed Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University. I see therapy as a collaborative process:
a place to better understand what you are experiencing, identify patterns that may be getting in your way, and work toward changes that fit your goals.
My approach is warm, practical, and collaborative. I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed approaches, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I help clients explore the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical ways to manage difficult situations and respond differently to challenges.
I believe therapy works best when we work together. Rather than telling you what you should do, I want to understand your perspective, help you identify what matters to you, and support you in making changes that feel meaningful and realistic.
Chris's style is
My style is warm, collaborative, practical, and nonjudgmental. I aim to create a space where you can be honest about what you are experiencing while also working toward concrete goals.
What to Expect in Your First Session
Our first session is primarily about getting to know you. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, what you have been experiencing, relevant parts of your background, and what you hope to get from therapy. We will also begin talking about your goals and what you
would like our work together to look like. You do not need to have everything figured out before your first appointment.
