Hello and welcome!
My name is Kaela. I studied at Stockton University where I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology with a concentration in mental health, as well as obtaining a Childhood Studies minor. During my time at Stockton University, I have had the privilege of working with marginalized and disadvantaged youth to assist them in developing self-confidence and ensuring their safety at the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City.
Shortly after my undergraduate studies, I completed my Master’s in Clinical Social Work with an Area of Emphasis in Children, Youth, and Families at Rutgers University which continued to instill in me the joy of working with children and their families. Having been an international adoptee, and growing up in an interracial family, I understand the struggle youth have in forming their own identity and sense of belonging.
My therapy approach no matter what age, is unconditional acceptance with the belief clients are experts in their own lives, and when given the right amount of support, they are able to grow personally and are able to advocate for their needs which allows them to thrive. I believe in both guiding my clients towards self-discovery, while also encouraging my clients to challenge themselves to continue with personal growth.
During your first session to the last, you can expect patience and understanding, allowing you to go at your own pace–I believe mental health is a journey and there is no “right” way or path, as each client is unique and special. I practice person-centered therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
When I do not have my therapist hat on, I love relaxing with my family that includes my two cats, reading, crocheting, and tap dancing.
Kaela's style is
I like to create a very safe, non-judgmental and empathic space, so that my clients can feel trust and greater freedom to express and explore their feelings and thoughts.
I also like to work in a very client-centered and collaborative way, where I follow the client’s lead, and work together with them to achieve the goals that they would like to reach.
