About Me

Hello and welcome!

About Me

Shanda L. Brown is a Licensed Social Worker with 15 years of dedicated experience in education and social work. An alumna of Rutgers University and Kean University, she holds specialized certifications in domestic violence advocacy and violence against women and children.

Her professional career is dedicated to supporting and empowering youth and young adults. Through compassionate advocacy and evidence-based interventions, Shanda fosters resilience and cultivates brighter futures for the individuals and communities she serves.

My Approach to Therapy

I draw from mindfulness-based practices and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients build awareness, manage emotions, and connect with what truly matters to them. I also hold a certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and integrate practical strategies for thought and behavior change. Because no two people are the same, I incorporate whichever tools and techniques best fit each client’s goals. My aim is to create a warm, supportive space where you feel safe to explore challenges and discover your strengths.

What to Expect from Our First Session

Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and what’s worked—or not worked—for you in the past. Together, we’ll begin shaping a plan that feels comfortable, collaborative, and focused on your growth.
